Over the past 20 years, numerous atmospheric deposition monitoring programs have been, and continue to be, conducted by various governmental and non-governmental organizations in the region of the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Most of these programs measured deposition of acidic substances; a few others measured deposition of toxic substances. The Maryland Power Plant Research Program's (PPRP's) on-going task is to make this web site--the Atmospheric Deposition Measurement and Analysis Information Resource--a repository for atmospheric deposition monitoring program information and data, with the focus on the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Atmospheric deposition monitoring programs summarized on this web page are categorized as either PPRP-sponsored, regional, or national programs; some monitoring sites are used by multiple programs. You can access the program information by clicking on the desired link, or by clicking on an item in the legend of the map below.
Important Note: Unless indicated otherwise, independent quality assurance checks of the data presented on this web site have not been performed by PPRP. For more information, or if you have atmospheric deposition data of verifiable quality that you would like to contribute to this web site, please e-mail Dr. John Sherwell of the PPRP, or call him at 410-260-8667. |
