The third edition of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) EML/IMES
(Exposure Models Library and Integrated Model Evaluation System) on
CD-ROM is still available. The purpose of the disc is to provide a compact and efficient
means to distribute exposure models, documentation and the IMES, containing information
about many computer models used for exposure assessments and other fate and transport
studies. The EML/IMES was developed for the USEPA's Office of Research and Development
(ORD), by Versar, Inc..
The disc contains over 120 models which may be used for exposure
assessments and fate/transport modeling. The model files may contain source and/or
executable code, sample input files and other data files, sample output files, and in many
cases, model documentation in Wordperfect, ASCII text, Adobe
Acrobat (PDF) format, or other formats. All models are in the public domain. The disc also
contains the IMES, with information on selecting an appropriate model, literature
citations on validation of models in actual applications, and a demonstration of a model
uncertainty protocol.
The IMES software on the CD-ROM is an MS-DOS application, can be used on
an Intel-based PC or compatible and is capable of running on a network. Conversion of the
model selection portion of IMES to a Windows-based interface was completed in September
1996 and is available for downloading from this site. An update of
the DOS model validation program of IMES is also available for downloading.
An HTML interface is provided on the CDROM for viewing the model directories and internet
sources of some the models. Model files and documentation can be downloaded from the
CD-ROM to a hard drive, using the HTML interface or your own operating system or other
software.
Individual copies of the CD are available, as long as supplies
last, from Versar Inc.,
to qualified users upon request; please email a request to
sschreiner@nospamversar.com, (delete the "nospam"
from email address) with an explanation of your interest in
the EML/IMES. For technical assistance with the CD, contact
Mr. Rich Walentowicz in the ORD at walentowicz.rich@epa.gov.
Technical assistance for individual models should be requested
from the appropriate model developers.
System Requirements
Hardware: ISO 9660 compliant CDROM. Interface and most models designed
for an Intel-based PC or compatible. A hard disk with 8MB available (to run IMES on the
hard disk) and at least 540K of free RAM. VGA monitor or better. Operating System: MS-DOS
3.1 or higher (for the DOS version of IMES). Windows 3.x or higher for the Windows-based
model selection modules.
EML DOS Interface
As an alternative to viewing the HTML document, you can run a DOS
program which provides capabilities for downloading files and directories from the CD-ROM
to your hard disk. It also allows you to run IMES directly from the CDROM.
